Electrical Problem?

This has happened a couple times in the last few days.  I'm driving down the
road with my lights and radio on.  All the sudden the car will have a slight
pause in it that feels much like when an automatic downshifts on the
freeway.  My temperture light blinks about 3 times, the radio goes silent
for about half a second, and then everything just goes back to normal.  I
thought that it was my battery cable cause my positive was getting kinda
corruded so I cleaned it but the problem started happening again today. 

Another strange thing is that this has tended to happen only in one spot of
town.  I remember hearing about a guy having problems with his Jaguar and it
turned out that the car's computer was picking up some interferring signal
whenever he got to a certain part of the freeway and his car would just shut
off.  The mechanic put a special shield around his computer and the problem
went away.  I didn't think that my 84 8valve has much in the way of
computers in it but seeing as its always this one part of town, it really
makes me wonder.  

Any ideas???
