Fixing oil pan?

A few weeks ago I went to change the oil in my car ('86 8v) for the first
time since I bought it a few months ago. I started unscrewing the oil drain
plug, and was suprised at how easy it was to turn. It kept turning and
turning, but wasn't comming out of the oil pan any further. So looks like
it's stripped. Soooo

1) I could just drill out the old hole and cut new threads with a tap/die (I
always forget which is which). And of course get a new bolt

2) Just get a new oil pan.

Regardless of what I do, I'm trying to figure out a *CLEAN* (controled
stream) way of getting the oil in the engine out. ( The best thing I can
think of is to just unscrew the oil filter, but then there will still be oil
in oil pan. So who's got a suggestion?

Oh and also. I'm in seattle, where the summer climate ranges from 70-90,
what kind of oil should I put in my car? I looked in the bentely but it
really didn't seem straight forward. Either SAE 20W-50 or SAE 20W-40 for the
multi grade oils.
