[[ot] dealerships and how to handle the fsk'her's]

OK, I'm a salesman at BMW of Charlottesville and I also use to work at
a VW-Mazda place. You don't need to do a credit report to test drive
any car. If that's the way they put it, I'd just walk away. They get a
copy of your driving permit because sometimes people don't come back
with the car or the salesperson. Before last year, some places would
run a credit report from your ID to see if you could buy the car before
you got back. There is a new federal law that prevents access to your
credit files with out your permission.
I don't think you need to act like an ass to get the best price.
1. Buy your car in the last day of the month. You can shop earlier, but
buy at the end.
2. Get them to write down the selling price of the car and the trade in
value of your car. You can always sell your car privately for more.
The problem usually is that it is a pain to sell your car if you don't
have a clear title.
3. At the end, ask "Are you comfortable enough with this price for me to
walk away and come back tomorrow?"
4. Get a balloon loan in stead of a lease. There are lots of hidden
fees in leases that only are worth it I it is better for you not to
"own" a car.
5. At least ask what rates they can offer on a car. Most dealerships
can obtain lower loan rates then you can at your own bank.

Anybody need a M3 with a SMG transmission?
