[[ot] dealerships and how to handle the fsk'her's]

If you're not so good at negotiating deals, these tips might help...

1) Research, research, research. Edmunds.com will get you up to speed on
prices. You should know what you want to spend on a car before you leave
your front door.

2) Go car buying when the weather's not so nice--because most potential
customers will be staying home. You'll probably have the lot to yourself.

3) Go shopping in the evening and act as though you're in no hurry to get
home. They'll be more likely to make a deal because they probably want to
eventually get home.

4) Silence is a great negotiating tool. Let the salespeople do all the
talking and negotiating. Show interest, but make them work for your deal.
Your silence, combined with a look of uncertainty or indifference on your
face will get the salesperson talking--especially if they want to get the
deal wrapped up and get home. Be prepared to spend hours in the showroom as
you "just think it over". DON'T THROW OUT OR OFFER ANY NUMBERS!! Let them
offer you the numbers. You know what the car is worth if you followed point
#1. Wear them out and they'll come down to your price eventually. Hell,
you're in no hurry--you've got all night! ;)
