electrical issue

It's been a bad couple of weeks for me and my cars.. first the Passat gets
crunched by a moronic teenager, now yesterday I picked up a nail in the 'roc,
which got thru the sidewall and toasted a perfectly good SP8000. Now I'm
having to replace a pair so that I don't have 1 new one matched with three
half-worn ones. America's Tire lent me a used 205/50/15 Kumho so that I
could get around while waiting for them to come in, no charge.. cool.

Then last night my stereo blew as I was blasting down the freeway minding
my own beeswax. A glance down showed no clock either, so it was obviously
the fuse. I yanked the offending fuse and it was rated 25A - checked Bentley
and stereo/clock/interior lights fuse should be 15A - uh oh, perhaps PO put
the higher rated fuse in because it was blowing them before? Anyways 2
attempts to replace, 1st with a proper 15A then with a 20A when that one
blew failed; they both blew immediately when inserted.

Any idea where to check? Nothing monkeyed with electrically in ages, the
stereo stuff has been there w/o problem for some time.
