As soon as you pull the cable from the car (and it's so easy compared to
the rest) you can pull it back and forth by hand and see if it's binding
or snapped.

If the clutch you did was at fault I would expect some noise to
accompany the lack of clutch pedal travel. ANy other symptoms?
