big ol' "ARGH" with ball joints

you removed the bolt all the way right?  Not just loosened it?  Then pry 
open that clamp a little.  Put your hand on a helpers shoulder and stand on 
the control arm as close to the ball joint as possible.  It should then fall 
down.

worked for me anyway...
