Bingo! My old exhaust was a 4-1 manifold, single down pipe, original
cat, no center resonator and mystery muffler w/ about 1 1/2" tubing. It
was fine for me sound wise, but my thinking was the system was more
restrictive than I wanted. I now have a 4-2 manifold, tt downpipe, test
pipe, center resonator, dynomax muffler w/ 2" tubing. We do have yearly
safety inspection here in Virginia, so I put my stuff on the week after
I had the inspection. My area has no emissions testing. My car should
have a cat on to pass, but most places will let it pass the way it is.
My thinking is that a high flow cat will work as another resonator,
quiet things down a little more, and make it so that I could always pass
inspection no matter where I go
