Recently my Passat died and would not create almost any spark out of the
coil...I performed all of the checks in the Bentley (passed) and cleaned all
electrical connections and added more grounds and no help....I then replaced
the coil with my Scirocco coil...no good. I then bought a coil + power
stage from Dave Ewing (Rabbit16v) and it was the wrong bracket so I quickly
attached it by just lying it in the car and VROOOM!!!!!....I am dancing and
cheering...I quickly turn the car off since the coil is not really attached
to anything and decide I will do some custom cutting to get the power stage
section of the wrong bracket attached to the right bracket for the Passat.
I get it all back together and nothing....no start. After the police left
and got me off of the roof I thought maybe the ground connection was not
adequate to the cut section of the power stage so I added more ground and
verified all of the connections....nothing I also tried to re-create the
initial start by attaching the coil without attaching it to the car...no
change....

I am really losing it here...I have come to the conclusion that it must be
either a bad ground....still to the power stage ...or a intermittent open in
the computer wiring to the power stage

any other ideas....I know people had said the Motronic is not happy if it
does not have at least 12 volts ...but the whole time I had my Reliable 8v
rocco running with jumper cables powering the Passat.......

any ideas????....I am guessing everyone is thinking grounds grounds
grounds....and I will be adding even more tonight /tomorrow

if anyone is curious the power stage on the Passat is between the ignition
control unit and the coil two wires come out of the power stage which
connect o the coil just like the Rocco

any ideas

funny spell checker wants to change Motronic....to Moronic........hmmmmmm
coincidence???? I don't think so
