too much brake?

This is only my educated opinion based on a few years experience but I
beleive that it is very possible to have too much brake! I think the most
VWs are overbraked from the factory and the only time you need to increase
the braking of a VW is when you add a considerable amount of HP. I upgraded
my 77 Rabbit 2.0L 16v with 10.1 and rear discs with prop valves, 22mm
master, and stainless lines. When I really needed the brakes it took a
little while to actually grab. I believe that they weren't excercised
enough and glazed themselves or whatever, then when I needed them, they
weren't there immediately. I had VERY little brake wear over 2 years of use
(everyday, and I wasn't easy on it!!). Plus, it irritated the heck out of
me that I couldn's use 13" slicks or the 13" specially made racing wheels
for autocross on my car. The car was hit and totalled so I am on to another
project but will never go with large brakes unless I feel it is absolutely
necessary. I'd rather stick with the 9.4" vented and go with slotted
rotors. Cheaper probably with quicker response!! Oh, and everything was
replaced new, bled, and done professionally by me! So the system was right!
