new 020 tranny symptoms

clutch was installed after the engine was rebuilt, but it wasnt a new one.  
pressure plate and flywheel were installed correctly as there is only one 
way for each of them to go. the clutch was installed with directions from a 
haynes manual and appeared to be correct.  all the bolts that hold the 
flywheel and pressure plate were in correctly and then the clutch was 
aligned and the flywheel tightened, then the tranny was bolted up to the 
engine. did i forget something? i dont expect it to be anything internal to 
the transmission because it worked perfectly b4 the 8 valve engine it was on 
seized, and i never took it apart.
