Transmission mount question

I just put a replacement 16v motor in my 87 about a month ago and came
across this "engine alignment" issue. The holes for the mounts are
elongated and the box nut can slide back and forth in it's carrier.
This allows the engine to be moved side to side when before the mount
bolts are tightened. As far as I could tell from Bentley, the engine is
"aligned" when the back mount lines up straight with the metal piece
that attaches to the body. I agree, Bentley's description and drawing
are both vague.

I moved the engine over from the passenger's side toward the driver's
side with a thin block of wood and a very large screwdriver (read: pry
tool) between the frame and the mount. Seems to be working fine!

Good Luck with it
