Tire pressure was Re: My own 2 stupid questions (tires and trannies)



Maybe I'm blind, but the only data on the tire's sidewall is maximum
inflation pressure which has NOTHING to do with the pressure you should
use for street driving!
The tires I have on my 2200 lb Scirocco could also be used on a 3000 lb
Honda. I doubt the pressure should be set the same. For the 26 years
I've owned Sciroccos I've always run 28psi (175/70X13, 185/60X14,
205/45X16 and 205/40X16) for street use and had good even tire wear and
responsive handling.
I hope you're not as unknowledgeable as my "know nothing about cars"
boss who actually did inflate his tires to the max inflation pressure,
of course, when the tires were cold so they would be over the max when
hot.
