RE: 86 16V vs. 2.0 16V Talon




My condolences if your tranny is weaker than the DSM one... I'm in the
middle of build a 95 Eclipse GSX(turbo,all wheel drive model), and when I
first got the car, I noticed immediately how much less smooth the shifting
is than it is in my 16V rocco. Missing gears isnt that hard to do, do that
a few times while racing, and there goes your tranny. People blow the
center diff out launching them hard, and then the pieces from that help to
kill the transmissions. Then you have to put down $2K for a replacement
one. I dont know all of the failure modes for that trans, I just know I see
lots of people talking about replacing them, some people have done so
several times...
