I'm not sure about that distibutor. I've just read "Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine Management" and the two systems do actually have a lot of differenses.  En excample would be the plounger, which is machined to fit the fuel need of the 16V. And the design of the flow-meter did also change a lot...
