RE: sequential shift transmission conversion!

Scott, gotta disagree with you man

>From a normal, street driving/saftey stand point, it is MUCH better to
downshift through the gears as you come to a stop. Ever taken a
motorcycle riding class? One of the most important factors is, be in the
appropriate gear for your speed, that includes stopping. Why? Cause what
if you need to make a quick getaway from some ahole that dosen't see you
stopping? Better to be in a gear with accel possible in an instant than
to have the clutch in and the shifter in 5th. Anyone that rides a
motorcycle tends to be a more aware car driver from a defensive stand
point...and engine braking/gear selection to critical to keeping
yourself/your car alive.

Now, snow and ice present a different factor...agreed engine braking is
not a great idea on loose surfaces..but I will still go through each gear
in succession as I slow down, just with the clutch in. People that just
clutch, brake, then shift to 1st once stopped, are asking for it.

There is real world driving, then there is rally....I leave it to you to
speak the truth in racing conditions, but real world, you have to see my
point.
