Re: polished intake prep

When wet,...clear paint will give a "greyish" look. To a certain point at
least! (should be more of a "milky" color ) Anyhow,...Kevin,....grab
some IVORY dish soap. (It has more detergents and no scents in it) Wash
your valve cover with hot water, a new sponge and Ivory. Scrub it pretty
well and then allow to air dry. Do This TWICE! This will eliminate the
wax's, oils, and distillates that are impregnated in the metal. After the
cover has dried good,...spray on a thin coat just like you had. (when I say
thin,...you should hardly even see "paint",.....it should look more like
tiny, tiny splatter paint) Ummm,...that just sounds Wrong........Try
this: Just "Fog" the paint on the first time. (does that make more
sense?) All you are doing is laying on a "tack" coat for the final coats
to stick too! Allow to air dry for 30 minutes,....(it will still be tacky
so don't touch it) Make sure you shake the hell out of your can,....before
and during the painting. Those rattle cans will separate fairly quickly.
Anyhow,...then apply a heavier coat and allow to dry/tack up for two hours
or so. Then spray on a nice thick coat ,..(not so thick it runs though)
Allow to dry for a couple of days before it is completely cured. (at least
one full day before handling) That paint will dry clear as glass and you
will be more than happy.
GL,...and if you have any other questions,...Let me know,
Chris
