Salvage Title - Whatss it mean to me as the New Owner?

Bought a daily driver Jetta GLI in need of a good home with a burnt up
clutch. (Dude had his linkage pop off and burnt it up in 3rd and 4th on
the way to, and back from the dealer, in the rain, because they were
closed.)

So when I go to the DMV here in Califonia, what will they run me through
and how might I expunge this from it's record?
