This was discussed at length on the Vortex.  The end result of your solution
is making the door fit tighter.  The same can be accomplished be moving the
striker plate closer to the center of the car.  Both of these solutions were
completely unacceptable to me.  The doors fit fine when I bought it.  What
happened to make them start moving around enough to "rattle?"  Nothing.  Its
just the latch mechanism thatıs rattling.  Grease it up with wheel bearing
grease or a heavy silicone grease and the rattling is gone.  And you haven't
messed with the way the door fits at all.  VW eventually came out with a
service bulletin stating the same.  The grease that was there when you
bought it just dried up and became ineffective.
