Re: [Q] - Restoring Mk.1 Euro Bumpers

As far as painting the bumpers..... go to a paint store. (look in the
yellow pages if you aren't sure where your local one is) They *normally*
have a SEM display that will hold spray cans of most every trim/bumper color
including plastic adhesion promoters and whatnot. SEM will retain the
texture if that is what you are after and their colors really cover well.
Now as far as filling in cracks and holes..... without sounding like a
broken record.... Paint store! 3M has really nice epoxy's that will work
well. Ask the paint guys for a 3M brochure and take a look. They have them
for seam welding, filling, etc. The only warning I have for you is that the
epoxy *kit* must be used in a special twin tube caulking gun that is kind of
pricey. (like$45.00 for the gun) The epoxy cost me $24 bucks or so and I
just smiled and explained that since I was buying paint and all this other
stuff..... could I just borrow a gun to use for that day. "No problem" ,
the guy said. So try that unless you plan on using alot of the body shop
tools again.
HTH,
Chris
