Re: Vehicle transport, anyone ever do this?



When I rented the Explorer it did not have a hitch. I rented that from
U-haul along with the trailer - cost $15 a day, IIRC.

I never asked explicitly about liability while towing a trailer, but the
concern occurred to me. I bought that otherwise useless rental insurance
Hertz offers just to keep things clean. Whether that would actually have
covered me or not I can't say.

Typically, I would not trust a bumper hitch for more than about a thousand
pounds, given the thickness of metal and shoddy welds involved in most
bumpers. YMMV.
