OK, I'll kick it off-

Think H&R springs, (somebody else can recommend shocks), and think to
replace all the little rubber bushings in and around the suspension;

A-arms, tops of shocks, motor mounts (well, why not?), rear axle, etc.,
etc.

Your new best friend just became the Potterman. He will hook you up.

<http://www.parts4vws.com> Go there, poke around a bit. He doesn't have
hardly anything on the page vs being able to get you most anything you
need, just ask.

BTW- there are usually three (4) types of springs: Stock or stock type
replacements (I include Neuspeed Soft Sports here), Lowering, and Race.
These get stiffer and lower respectively. I would stay in the 1st two
for a street car, race springs are too much for everyday driving.

You need to get shocks that can handle the springs height, some
perfectly decent absorbers don't do too well when lowered most all their
life. Others are made knowing that's what you intended, ask 1st.
