RE: Why are poly bushings "bad"?



Poly is considered "bad" by many for a number of reasons. Poly is prone to
denting and even actual disintegration at worst. Hit a large bump and
instead of rebounding to the cast shape, the bushing will retain the dent
and will become non-functional. I've turned poly control arm bushings into
red dust under rally conditions and no longer use them there. All of this is
exacerbated in the cold weather, btw...

In my opinion they aren't a bad idea if you plan to keep a watchful eye on
the parts and to periodically lubricate them. However, you can avoid these
complications with a proper set of delrin material bushings. Refer to the EM
Sport web site for more information. YMMV...
