16v problem - bucking upon take-off

I have a problem I am trying to diagnose in my 16v. It will crank and run
fine while sitting still. When you try to take off from a stand-still, the
car will buck (fairly violently), and will fall on it's face, if you let off
the gas, it will catch back up and settle into an idle. If you start off
again, it will do the same thing. It doesn't matter if you rev it up to like
4K and feather into the throttle, it still falls on it's face. I have
replaced the distributor, the cap, the rotor, the plug wires, the plugs, the
transfer pump and the main fuel pump, and fuel filter with all OEM Bosch
components. I have had the idle fuel mixture and timing all adjusted by a
friend that is a VW tech. (he just hasn't had time to help me with the
further problem). I have also tried swapping out the knock box with a known
good one, and the car exhibited the same problem. The problem has persisted
through the replacement of all of the above items. I would really like to
get this one going , so any and all thoughts, tips, and insight is
appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeffrey W. Bynum
