If the bumps stops are against the top of the insert with the car at
rest, then I would think the car is going to ride very poorly. The
effective spring rate rises dramatically as the bump stop gets involved
and the shock (even Koni adjustables) will not be able to control
rebound. My solution was to cut the upper spring seat and weld metal in
to raise the car ~8mm.
Cutting the bump stop seems like a bad idea because although it will
come into contact with the shock at a higher travel its spring rate will
be much higher when it does. So, the same lack of rebound control will
exist.
I'd call Neuspeed and see what they suggest before hacking around.
