Well, on all clothing items, materials are really not that big a part
of what you are paying for. For example, most expensive gloves are
still hand stitched, and that is mainly what you are paying for. 
However, you are right, good leather is not cheap. That is part of
the reason I was asking about a group buy. If I were to just put
these together one at a time as people wanted them, they would surely
be cost prohibitive, and the price would vary every time I made one,
because the price of leather changes drastically from one supplier to
another, and even based on the seasons. However, if I were making one
large order of enough leather to make say 20 headliners, I could get
a much better price per yard, significantly lowering the cost of the
materials per unit.






The goal is to overcome the deliberate nature of the process.
