Maybe somebody is uptight that the car will get bashed? Whatever the case,
there are defnitely some good reasons why it is a bad idea.

Here are the five top reasons that I can think of as to why this would be a
bad move:

1. The A1 chassis in general has poor suspension travel and a short/twitchy
wheelbase. This can be scary at 90mph on a snowy forest road.
2. The Scirocco seating position is reclined whereas an upright seating
position is better in rally for looking down the road.
3. Scirocco parts are few and far between compared to most other models.
4. Poor marketing value.
5. Golfs are superior in all the above counts and shells can be found almost
for free.

P.S. Keep in mind that it would cost just as much to prepare a Scirocco as
it would a Golf. Why start with an inferior car with built-in inconveniences
from the start? Don't get me wrong; I love my Sciroccos. However, they just
aren't ideal for rallying. Let me know if you are serious about rallying. I
can get you started. Be warned, though; it is an obsessive hobby. :^)
