Re: bad lifters?

Well,... justa thought here. I had some pretty nasty tapping in my last
head and swore up and down that the lifters were bad. (I had been running
syn. oil at that time.) The new head got 20w-50 dino oil and new lifters
and lots of head work. The noise is gone now. I can't say it was the oil
or the lifters,.... but if I owned your car,... I'd drain the oil ,.. put in
some 20w-50 dino oil and see if the noise goes away. If not,... try the
$125 for new lifters. (plus time to drop them in) I wouldn't think your
head work would cause the tapping. The HD valve springs should prevent
"good" lifters from floating. If you had stock 55lbs valve springs I would
question it,... but I think your good to go with what you've had done.
Maybe drop by the shop that did the head work and ask about the lifters?
