Hello,

I don't know where you had your lessons in combustion engines
but unfortunately it's not that easy as you wish it was.

the very basic theory :
The quality of a combustion engine consists of 2 main factors :
a) Gütegrad ( the quality of the Gleichraum-process )
b ) Liefergrad ( how much air and fuel you can get in )

a) to increase the quality of the process, you have two main parameters:
pressure and temperature. To increase the max. process-pressure
you have to increase the mechanic structure of the engine-
   and make it heavier.
The max. temperature is dependant of the used material in the engine,
the limit is already reached with the used materials of today.

b) the "Liefergrad" is the relation of air-fuel mixture that is actually in
the
in the combustion chamber, compared to the theroretic mass that
could be there at optimum. To increase the "liefergrad" it is easy to
inject more fuel, but the main problem is still to get enough air in.

And therefore such things like big manifolds, turbos, roots,
intercoolers, are all trying to maximize the amount of air in the
cylinder.

friendly Greetings
Dirk
