Yes, the flanges swap right over, just make sure you get new 100 mm
flange seals.

My RIP '85 Scirocco had an ACN and it was great with the 8V 1.8L. 
I also ran an ACN in my RIP '87 GTI 16V and it was terrible, it made the
car a total dog around town, but I did like the gearing for high speed
cruising. 

Since you have an 8V, I think you'll like the ACN, and $175 sounds like a
good deal.
