A close friend of mine works for a major BMW tuner and his advice about
these cars is to stay away from them. Nothing wrong with the car itself, but
with the age that they are now, you're practically asking for major repair
bills.

Here's the scenario he sees almost every day:
1) The car is now usually on it's third owner.
2) With the price of these cars new, the first owner was pretty good to it,
and didn't push it too hard.
3) Then the second owner bought the car because it's a pretty fast and well
handling car. Well that owner beat the snot out of the car until now.
4) The third owner comes along and gets a super cool BMW for many thousands
less then the original price and is very happy...until it needs new
everything.
