playing, but the radio would continue to play...also the display reads
"5AF E" the whole time...any ideas about this? i don't know anything
about these radios so any help is appreciated, it's probably just
something stupid that i'm overlooking...TIA

  :)  the radio is coded with an anti-theft device. you need the correct
code to get the radio to play again. you should've gotten a radio manual
(with the car) that has the code wirtten down in the back. it's an '88
so you're probably looking at a heidelberg vi. if you go to my page,
there are instructions for de-coding the radio (for an hv, but they'll
work just the same). if you can't find the code, you'll have to get the
serial from the radio and call a dealership to get you the code. you
might also see if someone one this list might have connections
<cough...chris delong...cough>. :)
