disconnecting 02 sensor...

my 16v has seemed to develop an exhaust leak on the downpipe and i think
it's freaking out the o2 sensor (get a bad bucking/hesitation when starting
out in 1st gear.....i'm almost positive it's not a crack in the air boot,
as the car worked perfectly before it sat for about a month

so, can i disconnect the 02 sensor and still have the car work ok?.(besides
a crappy fuel economy) until i get a chance to have the exhaust leak fixed
