It has been done; I _think_ I can find a link with pictures were an
audio nut did it before. The guy lined the tub, fiberglassed in over
some matting, and placed a raised floor over the whole thing. 

You could tape the drain hole closed and fill it with water to determine
the gross vol., then sink the wheel in it to overflowing (maybe in a
washtub) to determine the things volume and subtract the diff.

On another note there is some company making a prefabbed sub with
circular plate to fit right in the tire itself. 

An 8" sub seems plenty, more is only better if driven properly and
cleanly. oops. :)

Lemme see what I can find, anybody already got the info chime in.
