This is a common source for an oil leak on VW w/ oil cooler. There is an
o-ring gasket between the oil cooler and the oil filter flange. They get
old and brittle, and when they go, it's a friggen river. You probably
sent it on it's final way when you changed that filter.

To replace it, remove the oil filter. There is a (I believe) 27mm nut
holding the oil cooler onto the oil filter flange. Remove this, curse
because it is such a tight fit to get in there with a big ass socket,
and when it's off you will see the o-ring gasket. If you were planning
ahead, you would have already gotten a replacement from the dealer, or
potterman (if you are patient). If you didn't plan ahead, then bum a
ride from your best friend down to the dealer. On the way back, complain
about how the Civic you are riding in just doesn't feel like it has any
torque. This will piss your friend off, so you should only do it _after_
you have gotten the goods.

Put the new gasket on and you are set to go.
