Stumbling/exhaust manifold options

I got a visit from a friend Tuesday night who hadn't seen my 'rocco yet. I
sprayed a shot of ether into the intake and fired it up and showed him that
it hesitates really badly when you try and accelerate. I have a substantial
exhaust leak (either a cracked manifold or bad gasket - haven't had it apart
yet), and he noticed that when I opened the throttle there was a very
noticeable puff of exhaust that would escape through the "leak". Does it
seem reasonable that I'm getting stumbling because I have too little
backpressure due to the leak?

Assuming the manifold is the problem, what are my cheap options? At this
point, I'm too poor to be very concerned about more power. I understand the
dual outlet manifold is a little less restrictive than what I have. How
much can I pick one up for? How much do people get for the stock
single-outlet manifolds? I'm assuming not much, since everyone is always
trying to upgrade to something else. Are there any dangers to buying a used
manifold, like being prone to leakage, etc.?

TIA!
