Depends on how tall you are and where you sit.  With the seat forward at all,
the shifter is definitely in the way.  But if you're tall and sit with the
seat all the way back, then its stock length and location is perfect.  The
PO of my car had cut down the shifter, and it was too far of a reach for
me with the seat back.  After replacing it with a stock non-cut lever,
all was well.

As for the ratio between size of the lever and clutch travel - that comment
was a mystery to me too!
