Re: ACN tranny?

The ACN tranny came out of only1.8L 8v cars (non diesel)....The gearing is
much different than the 16v trannies...AGB, and 2Y are the only trannies that
came on 16v's..Here is the gearing of the ACN...

1st.....3.455
2nd.....1.944
3rd.....1.370
4th.....1.032
5th.....0.745
Final Drive.....3.667

In comparison here is the 16v tranny gearing

1st.....3.455
2nd.....2.118
3rd.....1.444
4th.....1.129
5th.....0.912
Final Drive.....3.667

The 16v trannies also have a large output shaft that goes to the clutch disk.
Since they did not put the correct tranny in the car they also probably saved
money by not putting in a 16v pressure plate....

The AUG tranny came on 8v cars also but was the same gearing at the 16v
except for 2nd gear which was 1.944. It also did not have the large output
shaft.

Hope this helps you out, shawn

the ACN is a close ratio box, but is it from a 16v?....(i only knew of AGB
and 2Y trannies being in 16v's)....he says that it was from an 87 jetta

anyone know for sure?.....i'm mainly buying the car for parts, so if it
 doesn't have a 16v tranny, i'm not sure i'm intrested
