Son-of-a... ...I'm hit!

In advance, I'm sorry for venting...

I'm driving to work this morning... ...speeding naturally, and I notice
in the lane far ahead of me, an overly loaded dump truck. No good! I
quickly switch lanes to avoid the potential shower of gravel from this
mobile sandblaster. Sure enough, a Scirocco seeking stone is ejected off
the truck... ...and it's pinballing its way towards me! I try some
evasive maneuvers, to no avail! Its got radar lock on me! *Wham!*
Son-of-a... ...I'm hit!

I land at work safely, and bolt to the front to survey the damage...
...luckily, the Scirocco only lost sight in one eye. And thankfully I'm
not Euro-lamp equipped (yet)... ..the golf ball sized rock blew a hole
through the lamp and its connector.

The point of my PAM (piss & moan)? What is the liability of the object
ejecting trucking company? Granted, it's just a $5.00 headlight, but it
could have easily hit a vital organ instead... If it was the radiator,
windshield, or sheet metal, what recourse would I have (except for the
obligatory exchange of "you're number one!") ?

Thanks

P.S. Those of you that have the Euro-lights, is there a clear plastic
cover or tape (helicopter tape) that you use to shield your lights from
heat seeking stones?
