RE: Go Ahead, Make My Day

<x-charset iso-8859-1>I can send you a copy from my bentley manual for the MFA wiring. Do you
have a fax machine? I put the MFA on my 1991 Gti 8v i scavenged from a 16v
Jetta.

On the back of the gauge cluster is a speed sensor used by the MFA and the
cruise control if the car has it. It is what both computers uses to
determine how fast your car is going. If the car has cruise and no MFA the
speed sensor and wiring for it is seperate from the plastic wire web on the
back of the instrument cluster. The wiring goes straight to the cruise
control.

But if the car has MFA also the speed sensor and wiring is an integral part
of the plastic wire web on the back of the cluster. One of the wires on the
instrument cluster plug is for the speed sensor and goes into the back of
the relay box. If the car also has cruise control then the wire for the
cruise control computer goes into the relay box instead to get speed
reading...

Hence cars with MFA have extra wires in the instrument cluster plug for the
extra sensors....That is why when i retrofitted it to my car i swapped the
whole harness from the instrment cluster to the relay box. I could have
installed the selective wires (3 additional wires if i remember right) but i
thought it would be easier to swap the whole thing instead....

Alright gang I need a bunch-o-stuff.

1)Motronic knock sensors (Victor Farren where are you......)
2)Motronic charcoal canister opener-closer valve and frequency valve.
3)1986 GTI MFA wiring diagram (1st page)

4)Someone to explain what the @#$& the MFA diagram means when it shows the
"speed sensor" wire coming from the gauge cluster.

5)Anyone have a connection to buy rear drivers' and passengers' window seals
for a MkI

For Sale:
1986 Jetta GLI throttle body and intake manifold
CIS-E harness, airbox, computers, lower intake manifold and isv from an 87
16V
Early rabbit/GTI lowering springs....wide hat style....will include hats
2 pair MkI or Rabbit rear progressive rate springs
Two point lower stressbar
