Personally, I dont care for it.  There are way too many subjects which fit
a cross section of these catagories.  Once you've read the first post in a
thread, you shoud be able to tell if you'd be interested in following it
further. Also, my email reader only displays the a certain # of
charachters of the subject, so when people do stuff like "[ General ][
Cruise-in ] Blah bl" I see half the subject cut off and have no idea what
the message was about.

Or maybe its just me being obtuse.
