Re: 16V In Accident For Sale

DON'T take it!

I just settled a similar deal. The bastards. I finally got $3800 out of em + the wrecked car. Your car sounds a lot nicer than mine was too. Gather up ALL your receipts, and your friends receipts, and your kelly blue-book, and all the ads for cars like yours in your area. Show them you can't possibly replace your car for $1700.

If they say you can, disprove it with your ads, and such. The really sucky thing you will find is that if you want to sue them, the value of the car keeps you out of small claims court. And the legal fees you would see going to "real" court would offset the gains. Don't think the insurance guy doesn't know this.

After they come back with a slightly higher value, call AND mail (not email) your local insurance commission. After the commission contacted the insurance agent, the bastard handling my claim "reconsidered" the offer up to a real world number.

Wicked pain in the ass, but they do owe it to you. I'm certain you didn't ask to be crashed into.

PS its pretty cool having a parts car. Most spare parts are "in stock"!
