True for all 8Vs, not true for the 16v.
The 16V was designed to run on 93.  Any lesser gas will cause detonation,
which will be picked up by the knock sensor and retard ignition timing.  On
a properly tuned 16V with a working Knock Sensor System, you'll lose
serious HP by running it on 87.  Go ahead, use 87 all you want; but your
16v won't be running even close to 123hp.
