Re: Big Valve head on a 1.7L?

I've mated a 1.8L head to a 1.6 liter block. Which is the same as a
1.7L.
I had no problems with it and it's been ten months since I started
driving it.
I didn't want to ruin my head(at least that was my thinking;)) so I
temporarily blocked the main oil passage on the 1.8L head with a
chemical resistant rubber stopper!
I keeping putting off tearing the thing apart and welding the hole. Hey
it works so why bother! But I know that thing isn't gonna last all that
long so I gotta do it soon. Anyways.
In my experience the oil passage is the only mod you need to make.
I essentially have the same setup you want. My engine is a 1.6L block,
1.7L crank and a 1.8L head.(what a hybrid!) Of course that only put me
dead even with a vtec del sol,(O.K. fast) so I would suggest porting out
the 1.8L head to the biggest valves possible.
