I learned the technique at the age of 16 while driving my first car - a
'69 bug with a completely toasted 2nd gear syncro.  I was first taught how
to double-clutch so that I could downshift smoothly despite the bad syncro,
then from there how to heel-n-toe.  With the bug's funky pedal cluster it
was easy for me.  I can't do it in almost anything else I've owned since,
my feet are too damn big!  :0
