Re: K+N Filters?

It's not a 'monster' modification, with gobs of HP and torque added. :)
It's probably worth only about 1 or 2 if you had a really dirty filter
in there before. Waaay back when, VW&P ran a car with a few different
filters in 1/4 mile drags, absolutely no appreciable difference was
found...including when they ran no filter at all. That doesn't mean
_I_ think they don't work. :) But for ~$30, it's a good place to
start your performance mods. Just call Mark or Mike at Adirondak Auto
Brokers, or Virtual World Parts. Links for both are on scirocco.org.

There are a _ton_ of other performance mods...here's little advice
for everyone asking this all too generic question: how fast do you
want to go? How much money do you want to spend? Speed costs money,
no way around it. Once we get a feel for where you want to be, and
how much you want to spend (probably over years...) we can answer
that question. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I'm also not going
to type a dissertation every time someone asks how to go faster/handle
better/whatever. :)

If anyone is serious about building up one of our little econo boxes
with sporting overtones into a fire spitting/rail riding VeeDub, my
advice would be to make a plan on how you want to get there. Which
areas of the car do you want to beef up first. How much money do you
have to spend at each stage. Start looking for/learn to recognize
bargins to stay ahead of curve. sorry didn't mean to get on a soap
box, I'm reminding myself a bit of Mannix right now... :-) He'd
probably get a kick out of it...

later.
