RE: Scirocco GTL

I've seen a few of these. It's a euro model, basically a slightly better
specced version of the euro 1.6 carb. GT.  The early MKII Scirocco (82/83)
UK models were, in ascending order of spec., something along the lines of,
C, CL, GL, GLS, GT, GTS, GTI.  That's a 1.5 carb up to 1.6 injection.  I've
still got an '82 1.6GL auto which came with velour seats, double lamps
(inner lamps are fogs), headlight washers, single wiper & small wing on the
back.  I'll be breaking it for parts soon as it's not worth diddly to sell
even tho' it still runs OK.
 
Roundabout 84/85, I think the C/CL was dropped, replaced by the GT, the GL
by the GTL, GLS briefly became a GTS and the GTI became the 1.8i GTX ( with
a few limited Storm editions).  Later on there were special edition 1.8 carb
& injection Scalas & very limited numbers of 16v GTXs.  Towards the
end there was only the GTII and Scala and then finally, for the last year or
so, only the GTII
That #6/#7 grill assembly was fitted on lower-specced models, like the C/CL.
#7 is just a filler for the inner lights that weren't fitted.  Not the most
elegant of solutions, in true 70s/80s VW style.

    Okay everyone,
 
This is a question that I hope I can get a response on. Going thru the VAG
CD I have noticed a few things that are of surprise and that is it list a
Scirocco GTL. Can anyone answer this? or does anyone have such a beast? For
anyone that has a VAG CD here is the code ( COR 85 9 41 216-00) these are
the box codes to help you out.
 
Next thing is the grill assay found in ( COR 85 8 53 158-00) WHAT is this
type of grill #6 & #7 enlighten me as to this would be kinda cool.
