questions about euro lights


Hello all,

first I would like to say Thanks! to Mr. Dirk Schneider for my euro lights.
 
Second, I have a few questions about them:

my understanding is that the large beams houses a dual filament H4
that acts as the high beam and the low beam, and the small lenses 
are the driving lights.  Is this true?

And if so, how do the high beams get activated without the driving lights?
