Free spinnin' crank

It turned out the main bearing caps were put on in the reverse sequence
when I got the block back. I put 'em back on and I'm happy to say, my crank
spins nicely now.
I bought this Rocco in March w/ 205,000mi, couldn't drive it 'till late
April. Drove it all summer then blew the motor in late August, so its turned
into a winter project. I had done a few things done to the car in the summer,
K&N filter, polished throttle body, and removed the warm air intake. So she
ran pretty descent, short shift, smaller steering wheel. So now that its
being rebuilt I've gotten a few new goodies. Dual outlet manifold w/ TT dual
downpipe, A3 throttle body, block bored 1mm, and ports matched. Poly
suspension bushings, shortened springs, s/s brake lines.
I've been thinking of a few other mods as well, while I've got it all
apart. The lighened flywheel sounds like its well worth it. I'm also
considering using a hydraulic lifter head, mostly to get out of valve
adjustments. Any thoughs on this? Cams? I'd like to be in the 120hp range
by spring, I think a cam would put me over. Any ideas on what kind of hp I
should expect?
Thanks for all the advice guys. I checked the bearing clearances and
they're all good. So I should be dropping my pistons in tomorrow if all goes
well.
Great to see all the Scirocco support. Theres not too many of us in the
southern tier of NY.
