RE: 87 Scirocco

Too cold in W Va to start your car??? I may be ignorant (that's West
Virginia, right?), but something tells me that it's not as cold as
Minnesota. My 87 with 190,000 miles on it starts every day with no problem.
There's a number of us listers up here in the Arctic Tundra (MN, WI, Canada,
etc.) and we've found that the Scirocco is generally pretty decent in cold
weather. When it's realy cold (below -10 or so), I have a cheap magnetic
block heater that I plug in, which helps it crank in the morning. The car is
kept outside, 'cause my 88 Scirocco is the baby and it stays in my one-stall
garage all winter.

It might help to make sure you have thinner oil in it (5w30 or so), but I
probably wouldn't worry about starting your car in any weather. If you have
problems starting it, there's something wrong...

I hope you like your Scirocco, and welcome to the list!
Neal
